Gyrecraft by Studio Swine
Creating beauty out of floating plastic.
Sailing from the Azores to the Canaries via the North Atlantic Gyre, artists Alexander Groves and Azusa Murakami of Studio Swine collected the discarded sea debris along their nautical voyage.
Using a machine created by the duo, the artists melted the sea plastics using only the sun with their aptly name invention the ‘Solar Extruder’.
The project resulted in 5 beautiful pieces of covetable art and a film documenting the whole experience entitled ‘Gyrecraft’.
