10 CROSBY DEREK LAM | FALL / WINTER 2012
Derek Lam’s diffusion line 10 Crosby defines Manhattan sleek, with added Parisian chic. Rich autumnal colours of orange, deep red, greens, browns and shimmers of gold, grace Fall / Winter 2012.
Thick knits are seen in dresses in a cute peplum format, and trousers are palazzo or flared in enlarged plaids or patterns. Paying particular attention to his customer, Lam has noted the continuing sales of silk pyjama sets and has included an element of this in his collection – sophisticated kitten prints and polka dots that are in fact balls of wool.
Leather, suede and fur are used for the cosy layering components of Lam’s Fall / Winter 2012 lady – coats, stoles and jackets, whilst city shorts make an appearance in a panelled, thin woollen fabric. The blazer – the ultimate chic item of clothing, is thrown over several day and night looks, with this shimmering gold piece accompanying a sheer chiffon, speckled, black maxi dress.
A snow day for Hanne Gaby Odiele was the setting Lam imagined for this collection – a Macaulay Culkin in Home Alone type of affair. His favourite model is seen around an apartment having relaxed fun in the clothes – the perfect day for a game of ‘dressing up’.
