ALTUZARRA | FALL / WINTER 2012

Joseph Altuzarra’s Fall / Winter 2012 show was perhaps his defining moment as a designer. The ambitious collection was inspired by military-influenced tailoring, and showed strong links to Mongolian and Russian design.

As with all Altuzarra collections there was a sweeping notion of romanticism and sexuality, portrayed through luxurious furs and fabrics and extravagant embellishment. Dresses were sexy yet simple, pulled together with flamboyant belts made from pom poms and coins, topped with luxurious shearling overwear and beautiful toggled coats made of fur.

Tailored velvet jackets were matched with baggy cargo pants in black and purple and tucked into dominatrix thigh high boots. A perfect mix of Altuzarra’s own ethnically mixed heritage and the usual aspects of one of his shows; sophisticated, contemporary and practical pieces for the modern woman.
