ALTUZARRA | SPRING / SUMMER 2013
Joseph Altuzarra was born and raised in Paris to a Chinese-American mother and French father. He graduated from Swarthmore College with a BA in Art and Art History.
Passionate about fashion design, he headed to New York upon graduating and interned at the Marc Jacobs studio. As a freelance designer at Proenza Schouler, Altuzarra’s passions turned into a fully-fledged career.
Since launching his namesake fashion house in 2008, at 25-years-old Altuzarra had widened the breadth and depth of womenswear. His body-conscious, flattering and form-fitting designs have marked him as a prestigious talent in the fashion world.
Altuzarra’s Spring / Summer 2013 offerings saw nipped in waists, tasselled fringes, striped denim and thigh-high gladiator sandals. The pared-down sensibility of the collection displayed simple capelets with stylish and practical arm vents as well as and slimming peplum jackets.
Scarf prints were rife and, teamed with hairstyles sleeked into perfect side partings, gave the Spring / Summer line a distinct Parisian vibe.
Evening looks were put together with beautifully draped and swathed embellished silk and reflected the rise of the baroque trend we’ve seen running throughout designers’ collections this season.
