BETSEY JOHNSON | FALL / WINTER 2012
Betsey Johnson is the go to for classic, fun and frivolous clothes. Her Fall / Winter 2012 collection BetseyMania, takes you from the 60s, to the 70s and finally the 80s, transforming from mod to boho to disco.
Bold prints, sequins, faux fur and pink reflect looks that are inspired by Carnaby Street circa 1960 and the Fab Four. From the mini to the maxi the looks are seen in a palette of bright and neons in tulle, fur, wool and chiffon.
As always, Betsey managed to get the right dose of creativity and wearabiity, in a tongue in cheek approach to cultural influences in fashion. Houndstooth and herringbone were given a modern day twist through the use of unconventional colour and material.
Johnson is the go to for accessories, with her collection encompassing fedoras, sunglasses, belts and bags, but the newest and most interesting of accessories came from the graphic printed and fuchsia tights. Matched with almost every look the tights permeated the Betsey Johnson charm.
The Betsey Johnson girl is feminine yet sexy, pretty yet fun – she offers that frolicky attitude we associate with the designer.
Betsey describes her latest collection as: “The couture side of me, more beautifully made, more beautifully tailored”
