CHANEL | RESORT 2013
At this year’s Chanel Resort 2013, Karl Lagerfeld chose to unveil his newest collection in the secret gardens of Le Palais de Versailles.
Usually closed to the public, this elegant and enchanted garden was the perfect setting to showcase his majestic collection. Inspired by Louis XIVth and Mary Antionette, the maze of beautiful fountains was perfect for the models to meander.
The show opened with Cara Delevingue emerging into the romantic setting wearing a velvety, baby blue dress with a crisp A-line skirt, which was a common occurrence throughout the theatrical show. A military- inspired denim suit stepped away from historic influences, and instead referenced the modern times.
The overall feeling was young and playful, as stunning silhouettes took to the gravel paths with their coloured candy- floss, short-fringed wigs, setting a brilliantly unique fashion fantasy and complementing the baroque chic dresses.
The gardens saw wide trousers, ruffled shorts and bodices, along with gold embroidery, full skirts, tight corsets and sequin-encrusted dresses. The colour palette offered light greens, blues and pinks and dashes of striking gold.
To accompany their outfits, models wore thick-soled brothel creepers, which kept the show modern and current.
