CHRISTOPHER SHANNON | SPRING / SUMMER 2013
Designer Christopher Shannon unveiled his spring summer 2013 line during London Collections: Men and firmly placed himself on the ones to watch list.
Since winning the British Fashion Council’s NEWGEN Men sponsorship back in May, designer Christopher Shannon has proved that he is a worthy candidate to sponsor.
The spring summer 2013 catwalk show saw a folklore and festival inspired collection, with a quirky edge. Stripes were the main theme for Christopher Shannon spring summer 2013 and continued throughout the theatrical show. The first look featured a simple white shirt with striped detailing down the arms and was styled with magenta shorts. The look oozed summer and was the perfect show opener.
Throughout the collection the stripes grew bolder as well as the colours. Navy, purple, red and bright blues formed blocks of stripes on shorts, shirts, sweaters and tracksuit bottoms. The stripes became wider as the spring summer 2013 collection progressed and denim was introduced. One model wore a denim jacket covered in embroidered badges, while another model took to the catwalk in black three quarter length shorts with yin yang symbols, accompanied with a fringed denim jacket.
Models had frayed material strips on their heads, while others had delicately placed flowers on their faces to mirror the festival party scene. The entire Christopher Shannon spring summer 2013 collection was wearable and as the show drew to an end the ultimate look was saved to last. A look with an all over strip material jacket and shorts closed the collection. This outfit only intensified the view that stripes will definitely be taking over spring summer 2013.
