DAMIR DOMA RESORT 2013
For the showcase of Damir Doma 2013 Resort collection in Paris, Doma set a president for a sleek and sophisticated season. The Croatian-born designer, who has only been in the business five short years, introduced a more simplistic silhouette when compared to his last collection. Gone were the quilted leather tabards, fur jackets and lace cardigans of Doma’s last ready-to-wear collection; and in came lapel-less blazers, tapered trousers, faded white denim and collarless blouses.
Doma steered clear of his previous costume drama looks and created something far more contemporary. The Resort 2013 collection was all about clean lines and over-sized tops and bottoms. Navy and hints of magenta and deep purple proved to be Doma’s preferred colour palette. Perhaps one of the most standout looks compromised of jeans in a denim so faded they were almost white, teed off with a lapel-less linen blazer – in the same washout colour – and cinched in with a striking black leather belt.
‘Uncluttered silhouettes’, ‘oversized’ and ‘cinched-in’ were running themes throughout the Resort 2013 line, with zippers and belts added a touch of detail to an otherwise simplistic collection. Accessories were minimalistic; gold cuffs, wiry necklaces and practical handbags and rucksacks topped off Doma’s 2013 Resort line.
Elsewhere, Damir Doma Resort 2013 saw a flawless black dress, which billowed loosely from the waist to the ankle with an ease sure to make it a staple look in any girl’s wardrobe. Overall the Resort 2013 collection was relaxed, easy and remained feminine even when faced with such an array of slouchy and boyish cuts. Since his women’s wear debut at Paris Fashion Week in Spring / Summer 2010, Doma has proved himself as an ever-growing talent in women’s fashion. His timelessly wearable and effortlessly cool Resort 2013 line certainly marks him as one designer to watch.
