DAMIR DOMA | SPRING / SUMMER 2013 MENS COLLECTION

Croatian born fashion designer Damir Doma studied fashion in Munich and Berlin before graduating in 2004. In the past he worked for such Belgian fashion royalty as Raf Simons and Dirk Schönberger, before relocating to Paris to work for the Paper Rain group in 2007.

He launched his first mens fashion collection in the spring of 2008 and later went on to produce his first women’s collection for spring summer 2011.

Damir Doma’s ‘Children of the Sun’ menswear collection for spring summer 2013, focused on a casual/military style theme. Doma casts aside the ruthless realities of a militarianism look by relaxing trousers from a high waist. Hetapers garments in at the ankle and creates a more lethargic, loosened menswear style. These elements of military elegance are accompanied by belts, zips and buckles, as if to highlight a need for realism and accessibility within the design.

Leaving the harsh, dark side of the collection behind, Doma slowly moves into extreme luxury with his take on silk Palazzo pyjama pants and shirt. Combined with military jackets, he manages to create a harsh, yet, sleek feel to the spring summer 2013 mens collection.

Desert beiges and whites, accompanied by sky blues, are matched at times with thick knits, and finished off with leather strap sandals, or loafers. All items are perfectly complimented by Doma’s circular dark sunglasses.

By constantly conflicting ideas between strict military style and silky sharp finishes, Damir Doma’s striking and playful collection is a welcome addition to Paris’ spring summer 2013 mens fashion week.
