Fashion designer Ruthie Davis’ love affair with shoes began at the age of two with a pair of red patent leather Mary Janes which she refused to take off. Fast forward to 2006 and Davis had brought out her own shoe collection of hand-crafted, Italian-made shoes, with Davis looking to architecture, modernism, technology, 1960s Italian cinema and comic book figures for inspiration. This eclectic feel is immediately apparent from the bold, eye-catching designs of her Spring/ Summer 2009 collection and her heels have been spotted on the likes of Lady Gaga and Beyonce. As Davis oversees every aspect of the company herself, her collections are 100% inspired by her and the result is an originality and quirkiness that speaks for itself.
