Australian fashion designer Dion Lee has been “One To Watch” for many seasons and Fall 2013 is no exception.
Inspired by the Sydney Opera House, Lee stylishly departed from the girlie aesthetic that dominated his Spring ’13 collection for a more structured, sombre and silhouette inspired line.
Mesh and sheer fabric were used not only to showcase the body but to highlight the graduation of colour and cuts. Lee’s trademark slash skirt made an appearance, with tops also slashed at the side to highlight shape with peek-a-boo flashes of flesh.
Whirlpool prints surprisingly pulled the colour palette of the collection together which highlights Dion Lee’s special skill. Like most older and more established designers, Dion Lee’s knack of making the unexpected seem logical has ensured why Lee for the last few seasons is definitely one to watch.
