ETRO | RESORT 2013

Etro Resort collection 2013 continued to provide statement wear in a kaleidoscope of colours, engineered in a jigsaw of silhouette print. Each piece provided a network of statement prints ranging from natural influences, such as landscape or water-wash to the geometric audacity of tribal and brocade.

As a warning that the print trend is here to stay, Etro’s collection buys into the intricacy of design by removing the harsh dichotomies provided by colour blocking. Instead powerful colour assertion was created through tonal dichotomies peeking through a framework lattice of printed design.

The blouse embodied the nature of the collection, able to fit as a tonal essential or statement piece within any wardrobe, it also exemplified a specific movement similar to that of weighted chiffon. The garment was less whimsical, more edgy, providing for both luxe day and evening wear whilst also fittingly reviving the crisp essentialist nonchalance of the shirt.

Although Veronica Etro stayed within her comfort zone, she dabbled in a noticeable resonance of the 60’s and 70’s drawing vintage flavour to her contemporary collage of design. Still faithful to her palette of a mish-mash of patterns and design, there was no apparent step change for Etro Resort, just a continuing compilation of colour, pattern and atmosphere.
