FALGUNI & SHANE PEACOCK | FALL / WINTER 2012

Shane and Falguni Peacock is a name that remains relatively new in the fashion industry, unless of course, you originate from India. Although their families were sceptical about their chosen path, they first launched their fashion career in 2002, designing bridal attire and bespoke garments. Initially retailing at various boutiques in India, in 2003 they opened their flagship store, and by 2004 they were showcasing their first collection at India Fashion Week.

Despite their growing success it took time for the pair to discover their niche, Falguni described this during an interview with The Indian Express: “We have had to reinvent ourselves constantly. When we started off, we were busy trying to fit in; gradually, we realised that FSP (feathers, sequins and prints) is our mainstay. So we made a conscious decision to stick to this formula,”

The husband and wife duo share the responsibility of the brand, Shane primarily works on growth whereas Falguni manages the company. Once established in India, the attention shifted to global expansion and over the years, they have dressed celebrities including Jennifer Lopez and Kelly Rowland.

Their most recent Fall / Winter collection was a whirlwind of plunging necklines, thigh high cocktail dresses and stylish separates. Models strolled down the catwalk in translucent fabrics adorned with signature trimmings of feathers, sequins and digital prints. The colour palette included blues and blacks with dazzling embellishments which highlighted the futuristic feel of the collection.
