GINGER & SMART

Fashion label Ginger & Smart was founded by Alexandra and Genevieve Smart in 2002. The two sisters from Sydney aim to “embrace the chic, modern and effortless” in their clothing line.

They showed the new Spring / Summer collection at the RAFW runway. The show premiered their new transcendent look, with striking strobe-light inspired patterns creating a fashion slightly reminiscent of the eighties.

Ginger & Smart showcased a diverse but beautiful collection. Simplistic nude tones, vibrant prints, and contrasting metallic fabrics are amongst the mix of trends. A current of femininity runs through the collection, with soft delicate fabrics and playful layering.
Sheer blouses were twinned with mock-leather cropped trousers to create a statement of edginess with sensuality on the catwalk. Loose T-shirts adorned with colour explosions were fashioned with tutus heavy with layers of fabric, creating a striking yet feminine fashion.

The whole collection is grounded in beautifully classic tailoring, with simple, flattering lines. Sleeveless blazers were combined with harem pants on the catwalk, adding a new dimension to the traditional perspective of tailoring.

The label, which was recently accredited with Ethical Clothing Australia, demonstrated a selection of quality fabrics. The runway was graced with a futuristic collection, which remained classic and stylish through clean and complementary tailoring.
