HENRIK VIBSKOV | SPRING / SUMMER 2012
Henrik Vibskov’s previous collections have been described as outré, and his latest Spring / Summer 2012 collection doesn’t disappoint.
With every model dressed in a stiffened beret, and double framed sunglasses, we enter the enchanted world of Vibskov.
Male models wore cropped shorts and brightly coloured socks, female models posed in skin-tight jumpsuits and patterned, thick knitted cardigans.
Vibskov is renowned for designing clothes that juxtapose art and fashion, and creating a storm during fashion week.
Men’s suit jackets were pierced with large sticks through the shoulders, balancing weights on each end. It was sights like this that really turned the collection into a fiery, exciting show.
The magical sights were made all the more intriguing with the models strutting around a large carrousel, rather than up and down the catwalk.
One outfit embodies all that Vibskov stands for, with eccentricity and peculiarity pushing his collections to the top of the fashion world.
With a beautifully patterned silk, Vibskov designed a shirt with a sharp cut and a stunning edge. The purple, silk stained shirt lets the colours run through it with patches of gold, deep maroons and the palest blues merging in and out of each other in perfect harmony. The shirt gathers at the cuffs with a two-inch seem. Done up with delicate fastenings, the pockets create an aesthetic diversion from the print. It has a rounded neck, with stunning black lapels and no collar. Strikingly the model wears skin-tight black, cotton trousers, black laced up boots, a stiffened lack beret and, as with all the models, double framed glasses.
Vibskov has created a fantasy-fuelled collection like no other. Beautifully individual, it is a masterpiece.
