JAMES LONG | SPRING / SUMMER 2013

PJ Harvey met Beetlejuice at James Long‘s Spring / Summer 2013 presentation at London Fashion Week. This seasons marked the first time that the designer chose to host a presentation over a show.

Given the chance to talk about his all-monochrome collection Long said, “That’s actually why the collection is black and white, to be clear about the James Long woman.”

Long’s Spring / Summer offerings included a humbug coloured collection of knitted skirts, stripes, frilled peplum jackets and shirts emblazoned with the names of all the women who have inspired him. Monochrome shades of grey, cream and black adorned much of the collection’s separated.

Hemlines were short and the use of leather set off against cotton added an edgy touch. Silhouettes were slim, but playful as flared full skirts made up a large proportion of the Spring / Summer collection. Rich fabrics and sheet panelling made for a moody, yet ultimately luxurious and feminine collection.
