JOANNE STOKER | SPRING / SUMMER 2012 SHOES
Inspirational shoe designer Joanne Stoker’s Spring / Summer 2012 collection, Indian Artisan Summer, is a delight to behold.
After the range of daring styles in her Fall / Winter 2011 collection, Empire States, her new pieces continue to astound and delight.
The campaign encapsulates the buzz and infectious energy of India in the heat of summer. Her pieces are structurally and conceptually exciting, seen in vivid colours from deep turquoises to hot ocre oranges. The styles show signs of eclectic influences, from Edwardian shapes, to Fifties T-bar styles and Sixties pop colour blocking.
Though these elements of Stoker’s work are brilliant, the charm of her designs lye in the heel detail. From precious-looking stones to straw weaving, the intricacies are stunning. She also experiments with the shape of the heel; the art-deco angles and architectural impossibilities are edgy and artistic.
