JOSEPH TURVEY | SPRING / SUMMER 2013 MENS COLLECTION

Since graduating with a MA in Menswear Design Technology from the prestigious London College of Fashion in 2012, Joseph Turvey has been thrust into the fashion spotlight.

After his collection was featured as the highlight of the MA catwalk show at the Victoria and Albert Museum, Turvey was almost instantly snapped up by a Vauxhall fashion scout and was given the chance to showcase his designs at London Fashion Week 2013.

Joseph Turvey‘s Spring / Summer 2013 collection demonstrated just how far the lad from Shropshire had come during his time in London. Managing to clash tailored shirts with panelled, stripped and transparent tops in bold bright colours proved a smart-casual concept as the main focus of his collection.

Portraits of models were characterised, almost sketched freehand onto white shirts, splashed with colour and teamed up with matching trousers; it was clear this constant incorporation of bright sharp aesthetics was something that was important to both the designer and the individual item of clothing.

The highlight of the show was the Hawaiian-print short-sleeved shirts in green, blues and whites, which were matched with baggy chino shorts and elegantly finished suede pumps. Joseph Turvey’s Spring / Summer 2013 collection screamed accessibility to the normal man about town.

Throughout his short career Joseph Turvey has shown determination and imagination whilst managing to demonstrate a sense of maturity throughout his collection. Turvey is definitely one to watch out for in the not-so-distant future.
