KIRRILY JOHNSTON | FALL / WINTER 2012
Talented Australian designer Kirrily Johnston has stamped her mark on the fashion industry with her latest ready-to-wear collection, which is aimed at the casual yet trend setting individuals.
Kirrily’s training at the Melbourne Institute of Textiles has given her the skills to lead her own label and launch a diffusion brand ‘Kj by Kirrily Johnston’. With Australian weekend wear in mind, there is a strong focus on quality fabric pieces with an edge. The soft draped materials keep the looks young and fresh, and the structured nipped in waist pieces keep the women’s wear feminine.
The androgynous oversized pieces were once again transformed by simple belted knots forming the perfect silhouette, with the simplicity of design flowing throughout. The simple black, beige and white colour palette was enlivened by splashes of royal blue running through both gender collections.
The male looks resembled that of the females with tailored bottoms, loose tops, and asymmetric hemmed cardigans. The baggy natural tan ankle tie boots are a staple accessory for this collection along with the unisex giant tote bag and extra-long scarves, transforming some of the garments into hooded styles; leading the collection from simple to stylish.
