Dresden-born fashion designer Kostas Murkudis introduces for his Fall / Winter 2010/2011 collection a powerful play between clear geometric shapes and heavy fabrics like wool, cashmere, fur, silk and satin. His designs, minimalist in nature, are characterized by careful attention to details and use of contradictory materials and colors. He chooses black, cream, light green and golden shades, which when combined enhance an unparallel class and flair of femininity.
His dresses, which have a sharp and pure shape, are tailored with feather both on the front and back adding a romantic air. His graphic art background is evident in his designs, which elegant and harmonious juxtapositions of striking colors, materials and textures.
Murkudis- now based in Berlin- studied at the prestigious Lette Verein School of Fashion and then worked with Helmut Lang for seven years. In 1994, he founded his own brand “Kostas Murkudis”. Recently, he collaborated with Coccinelle brand and produced high quality handbags with a strong urban style. He also participated in January 2011 at the NOT IN FASHION exhibition, which took place at MMK Museum für Moderne Kunst in Frankfurt.
