MARKUS LUPFER | SPRING / SUMMER 2013 MENS COLLECTION
Markus Lupfer graduated with First Class Honours from London’s University of Westminster in 1997. His unique style and refreshing twist on everyday wear saw his final year collection picked up by London boutique Koh Samui.
Lupfer was already a regular feature during London Fashion Week before he was announced as Design Director at Spanish fashion house Armand Basi in 2006. Just two years later Lupfer won Best Designer of the Year at the Prix De La Mode awards in Spain and in 2010 he reintroduced his collections to LFW, where he gained global recognition.
Markus Lupfer Spring / Summer 2013 menswear collection ‘Garden of Youth’, again, showcased a style which embraced originality, craftsmanship and design within its pieces.
Using a small, yet, sharp colour pallet of blacks, greys and blues Lupfer perfectly blended London’s street and sportswear fashions. Graphics of nuts and bolts, bicycle chains and beetles decorate garments; crew neck jumpers were coupled with tailored shirts and shorts which fell just above the knee.
The introduction of pleated skirts into Markus Lupfer’s Spring / Summer 2013 menswear collection didn’t take away from the masculine shape that presented itself throughout his collection. In fact, Lupfer maintained the masculine feel by placing feminine pieces alongside brutish leather biker boots.
Although the skirts and sequined shorts might not be to every man’s taste, Markus Lupfer’s Spring / Summer 2013 menswear collection was brimming with flawless craftsmanship and oozed style.
