MINIMARKET | SPRING / SUMMER 2012
The Minimarket Spring / Summer ’12 collection is a visual feast, with hard blocks of black contrasting with a vibrant yellow, a deep orange and tribal prints.
The ancient Egyptian influence is clear from the start, with models wearing Cleopatra-esque wigs, and thick black eyeliner.
The stunning jewellery worn on the catwalk seeks to further exploit the influential Egyptian factor. The most outrageous headpiece is a beautiful cat mask. Mat black, the eyes are painted gold and it has an elaborate gold trimming.
The clothing for the collection is equally as stunning. Black and white is used with yellow and orange to create a striking look. Large, yellow gold bangles are seen frequently, with elaborate collars and waist belts also making appearances.
One stand-out outfit shown, included a sheer, black maxi skirt, a plain white t-shirt with an oversized, deep orange, loose knit cardigan, tied at the waist with a string-style belt. The model wore a spectacular headdress, with large, gold tassels framing the models face. Large gold rings drip from the models fingers, and the golden, leopard print platforms create an outfit that is truly unforgettable.
The collection holds the running theme of plain with patterned, elaborate with simple.
The three sisters that make up Minimarket, based in Stockholm, say that their designs are a mash up of sex and sophistication.
It is said that they would like to show fairytales and magic moving hand-in-hand with their cosmopolitan artfulness in their innovative SS12 collection.
