MOLFIC | FALL / WINTER 2012
Established in 2010, Japanese menswear label Molfic, was founded by designer and sound engineer Takashi Mori. Built off the premise of crafting minimal fashions with a sense of functionality, beauty and durability, Molfic’s Fall / Winter 2012 collection offers a range of outerwear, trousers and cardigans.
This seasons offering is a mature take on constructional, waxed thermoplastic fabrics and water repellent garments. With a continuing penchant for utilitarianism, designer Mori explored the functionality of separates in a universal palette of black on black, tan on tan and grey on grey.
The collection “Explores the new universality, fusion of hard and soft, portability, water repellency, minimal representation of the functional beauty with compounds such as thermoplastic fibres in a minimal way.”
Classic double-breasted macs produced a stylish and practical take on all weather wear, whereas the black puffa with hidden pattern detailing provided that extra warmth necessary in the winter months. Loose fit cardigans buttoned to the navel offered a sophisticated yet relaxed feel to the collection, and when paired with smart chino-esque jog pants, the collection had hints of sports luxe alongside its generally sophisticated aesthetic.
Molfic holds practicality in high esteem, in a fusion of comfort, wearability and overall sophistication.
