NE-NET | FALL / WINTER 2012
Ne-net is a quirky Japanese brand, and the Fall / Winter 2012 collection is as head-turning as always. Designer Kazuaki Takashima who graduated from Bunka Fashion College, worked alongside Issey Miyake before showcasing his first collection in 2006 – working pieces that are both cute and inventive in tandem.
The collection transports you into a charmed Alice in Wonderland world. The eclectic pieces create larger than life characters taking often very literal inspiration from landscape and woodland creatures.
The finely orchestrated catwalk provides an ensemble of eccentricity, featuring garments with pockets in the shape of rodent heads, models head-to-toe in shrubbery, and animal shaped knitwear. The extravagant architectural head pieces are juxtaposed by the simplicity of prairie skirts in a pastel palette, alpine patterns and bootlace detailing running throughout.
The pieces are unstructured and fantastical, displaying textural elements portrayed in nature through a mix of heavy knitwear and floating blouses. This collection is no shrinking violet.
