OPENING CEREMONY | FALL / WINTER 2012
Opening Ceremony have taken a more mature approach to their Fall / Winter 2012 collection. Inspired by Argentina’s Patagonia, the collection boasts military styles with custom prints representing the Patagonian landscapes.
The designers stated that not only were they influenced by ‘the glory of Patagonia, but also native Argentinean fauna, and the outdoor pursuits of gauchos in the grasslands’; culminating in a look that was South American cowboy meets sports luxe.
Embroidered collars on jumpers and blouses were paired with sports puffer coats and body-con fleece dresses. The casual aesthetic was tampered with through the use of rich cashmeres, leather trims and Mongolian fur on outerwear. Knits in various autumnal shades referenced the beautiful glaciers associated with the Patagonian landscapes, whereas the artistic prints of flowers were a depiction of Buenos Aires.
The accessories added to the mature finish established within the Fall / Winter 2012 collection. Oversized red sunglasses, printed loafers and lace-up boots ensured the looks fit with the luxury aesthetic associated with Opening Ceremony.
