POLA THOMSON | FALL / WINTER 2012

Born in Chile and now based in New York, fashion designer Pola Thomson graduated with a B.A in Design with a strong focus on art, aesthetics and design. She went on to study at London’s famous Central Saint Martins and Parsons The New School of Design in New York before launching her womenswear and accessories label Pola Thomson in 2010.

Her latest collection for Fall / Winter 2012 is a concoction of faint off whites or pastel yellow-cropped blouses accompanied by clear, see-through leggings, which mixes formal and casual wear perfectly.

Adding an instant fix of obvious glamour to her style, a brash/bold gold version of the blouse is introduced. The assortment of garments quickly moves back into the delicate chic it began with. Light flowing tops are coupled with free-flowing trousers and long silk cardigans, as well as a subtle pastel blue dress. Accounting for the winter part of the collection, black ponchos, or capes, are added as an accessory rather than a piece of clothing.

The hand crafted nautical neckwear aids the trend, on a whole, beautifully and doesn’t take away the subtle, crisp approach of the intended look.

Although Pola Thomson is based in New York, the designs still very much have a Latin feel about them, and within this collection she manages to stay true to her roots whilst creating a style fit for the rest of the world.
