RICHARD NICOLL | SPRING / SUMMER 2013 MENS COLLECTION

Richard Nicoll was born in London and grew up in Australia before heading back to his hometown to study at the prestigious Central Saint Martins in 2002.

Taking the fashion world by storm Nicoll was awarded the Fashion Council’s and the Fashion Forward awards over three consecutive seasons, as well as bagging three prizes by ANDAM in 2008, and the Best Young Designer at the British Elle Awards in 2009. Since then Nicoll has consulted for the likes of Marc Jacobs at Louis Vuitton, and in 2010 became the creative director for Cerruti womenswear.

This year saw the Richard Nicoll Spring / Summer 2013 collection embark on a relaxed and sporty journey, which had a lawn tennis feel to it. Blinding cold white shorts crept just above the knee and bonded with opaque shirts. An injection of colour soon followed; sunflower yellow and blue leather trench coats teamed with matching shorts cascaded down the runway as if the Nicoll men were stepping out on to centre court.

A fitting end to the match, and the showcase spectacle, was pale blue and green two-piece pinstripe suit which encouraged the more lethargic of sportsmen to dust off his racket and take to the green.

Far from a gruelling five-set contest, Nicoll was in full control, and his collection served up more aces than a world number one.
