TUCKER RESORT 2013
After opening her own store in Soho, New York, in December 2011 Tucker designer Gaby Basora streamlined the Tucker Resort 2013 collection and given us all what we really wanted – trousers, and lots of them!
There were plenty of pants on show at Tucker Resort 2013; from slouchy to skinny, tailored to high-waisted – jumpsuits even made an appearance. On top the Tucker woman wore floral-print bustiers and loose, heavily patterned pyjama shirts with contrasting sleeves – one particular look was emblazoned with cartoon images of Basora herself.
Tucker Resort 2013 is preppy, punchy and full of life. Basora drew upon a whimsical French feel presenting a bright and playful collection. Although the prissy print blouses and baby-doll dresses that Tucker is known for remained, there were a simply stunning array of different cuts and hemlines on display.
Block colouring was teamed up with a healthy display of animal print and vivacious patterns. A loose-fitting neon yellow bandeau top and an embossed cream-coloured skirt which fell from waist to just below the knee were topped off with open-toe snakeskin sandals; making for one of the collection’s signature looks.
A deep navy high-necked tank dress made good with an on-trend dipped hem and finished with a print headband and high strappy sandals. While an all-in-one candy striped pyjama suit found the perfect balance between a pretty feminine air and a more confident tomboy chic. The same candy strip made an additional appearance on a knee-grazing pencil skirt and was paired with a smart berry collared blouse.
Cute patterned headbands were scattered throughout the line which gave the collection a somewhat 1950s edge; Tucker Resort 2013 would feel right at home both in the office and at a lavish garden party. A botanical vibe flowed right through the Resort line as a pollen-yellow blazer and matching tailored shorts took centre stage.
