YAZBUKEY | FALL / WINTER 2012

Paris pop-jewellery label, Yazbukey, has taken inspiration from 1950s American High School movies for Fall / Winter 2012. Taking particular reference from John Waters’ ‘Cry Baby’, designer Yaz continued her design aesthetic of femme fatale allure with a modern-day feminist outlook.

Each season Yaz creates fictional characters in a poignant storybook presentation. For Yazbukey  Fall / Winter 2012 we are introduced to bad-boy Johnny Beware, the guy that breaks every girls heart, and the lovers, despondent heroines and tough girls who will fight to win his attention.

Vintage glam accessories including surrealist-inspired headpieces, brooches and heart-shaped headwear evoke pop culture at its best. The boldly coloured collection still encompasses the Yazbukey signature plexiglass bracelet, continuing the designers aesthetic of fearless and playful, retro-infused designs.

The Yazbukey label launched in 2000, was first an accessories only line, which then expanded into clothing and home décor known as Yazbukey Home Sweet Home.

When asked why she created a line influenced by the female, Yaz said: “Women play the part of assorted characters in life: the clever one, the aggressive one, the romantic one and so on. This is my way of paying tribute to them.”
