Z SPOKE RESORT 2013 BY ZAC POSEN
The Z Spoke Resort 2013 collection by Zac Posen focused on crafting affordable eveningwear. “I wanted my girl to get the man and not go broke on the way there,” said Posen.
The after-dark ensembles featured in Z Spoke Resort 2013 were far more affordable than the evening numbers found in Posen’s namesake line. Each look typically retailed at around $1,000(USD), but Posen didn’t cut corners in terms of garment construction, when he set his hand to create an utterly wearable line, which wouldn’t break the bank. For Z Spoke Resort 2013 Posen searched out fabrics like stretchy duchess satin and bondage lace – which kept material costs moderately low – and defined them with his signature detailing like clear-cut seams and smooth tailoring.
Posen’s daywear, too, played upon the ideas of elevating cost-effective materials with stunning detail. Z Spoke Resort 2013 daywear ranged from super-feminine tropical wool separates to an asymmetric zip jacket with a removable cowl neck, a tufted tweed coat with a loose-fitting yet defined silhouette and flirty skirts and tops with tie-at-the-neck bows.
‘Canine couture’ flowed right through Z Spoke Resort 2013 – no doubt tugging on the heartstrings of the dog lovers among Posen’s customer base. Posen’s own mini poodle, Tina Turner, even made an appearance in the Resort 2013 lookbook, alongside model Tao Okamoto. Inspired by his own three pups, Posen designed a number of super-stylish solutions for carrying pooch around. Cute berets finished off many of the collection’s looks, effortlessly carrying Z Spoke Resort 2013 from one season to the next.
Posen’s colour palette cemented purple as the colour of the moment, with rich and luxurious shades adorning many of the collection’s 30 looks. Soft lemon yellows teamed with crisp whites, also figured heavily, while deep red, royal blue and a statement black made fleeting appearances.
