Despite the absence of Belgian designer Margiela from his namesake fashion house since Fall / Winter 2009, Maison Martin Margiela certainly had their finger on the avant-garde pulse with the Fall / Winter 2012 Couture collection.

Fall 2012 is a season brimming with vibrant optical fashion prints, fluorescent furs, head-to-toe leather, boyish and boxy shapes and layers upon layers… upon layers! If one thing is for sure this season it’s that there’s something for everyone for Fall 2012. Whether you’re a confident tomboy, or a real girly girl you’re sure to find a trend to suit.

A fairly new edition to the world of fashion, designer Anne Sofie Madsen has already gained recognition from journalists and fellow designers from across the industry. Born in Denmark and educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts School of Design, Madsen worked for John Galliano at Dior and as a Junior Designer for Alexander McQueen before setting up her own label.

French-born designer Catherine Malandrino displayed a collection full of vice and virtue with her latest ready-to-wear line. At the show in New York, Malandrino revealed the motivation behind the Fall / Winter 2012 collection.

Aperlai, heralded as one of the most exciting names in footwear fashion, took on geometric shapes, defined lines and pure symmetry for their Fall / Winter 2012 shoe collection.

At this years Paris Couture week, Riccardo Tisci certainly shook things up. Throughout the week words like ‘pastel’ and ‘pretty’ had been heavily used but this was not the case when it came to the Givenchy fall 2012 couture show.

The king of Lucite, Alexis Bittar, has left his signature style behind for his autumn winter 2012 collection in favour of a more whimsical jewellery aesthetic.

London based duo Susan Ostwald and Ingvar Helgason, who hail from Germany and Iceland, have been causing quiet ripples of excitement with their latest collection for Fall / Winter 2012, which was their first presentation since forming the collection in 2008.

Australian menswear brand Lab Homme looked to the traditional Japanese sport Kendo for their Fall / Winter 2012 collection, Kendomalia.
