DAMIR DOMA RESORT 2013
For the showcase of Damir Doma 2013 Resort collection in Paris, Doma set a president for a sleek and sophisticated season. The Croatian-born designer, who has only been in the business five short years, introduced a more simplistic silhouette when compared to his last collection. Gone were the quilted leather tabards, fur jackets and lace cardigans of Doma’s last ready-to-wear collection; and in came lapel-less blazers, tapered trousers, faded white denim and collarless blouses.

David Bowie’s 1970s style rang true throughout the Alexander McQueen Resort 2013 collection. Designer, Sarah Burton, who can claim a personal connection to the man himself connected with the Bowie of the mid-seventies, when he was at his most visually extreme.

Christopher Kane took a pragmatic and refreshing approach to his Resort 2013 collection. He avoided the precious and ostentatious and crafted a truly ready-to wear and somewhat retrospective 2013 line.
ALEXANDER WANG RESORT 2013
After Alexander Wang’s previous collection brimming with lacquer and laminate, Wang was after something far more palatable for Resort 2013. It seems as though fashion designers were searching for something far more relaxed and less conceptual for this season’s collections.

Louis Vuitton’s women’s design director Julie de Libran set the tone for a simply stunning Louis Vuitton Resort 2013 collection. Inspired by actress Catherine Deneuve in Indochine and La Sirène du Mississippi de Libran when instructed to design a collection fit for the tropics. Deneuve was marked for effortlessly keeping her French cool despite the stifling heat on-set.

After opening her own store in Soho, New York, in December 2011 Tucker designer Gaby Basora streamlined the Tucker Resort 2013 collection and given us all what we really wanted – trousers, and lots of them!

The Z Spoke Resort 2013 collection by Zac Posen focused on crafting affordable eveningwear. “I wanted my girl to get the man and not go broke on the way there,” said Posen.

Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren’s 2013 Resort collection saw its debut in Milan. The Dutch duo took inspiration for their latest line from a year’s-worth of meditation and yoga. Rolf Snoeren’s personal musings over stylish spirituality was named as the catalysts for their enlightened Viktor & Rolf Resort 2013 collection.
PEDRO LOURENÇO RESORT 2013
Ever since his first Fall / Winter runway show in 2010 (at just 19) 21-year-old designer Pedro Lourenço has been wrestling with visuals which are sure to characterise his namesake line. The young Brazilian took inspiration for his Resort 2013 collection from photographer Richard Mosse. Mosse is known for capturing images of nomadic rebels in the Congo using Kodak’s Aerochrome film. The film turns the dusty yellows of the desert and even the most green of forests into bubblegum pink and full-blown fuchsias.

All eyes were on young French-Basque designer, Joseph Altuzarra, before the debut of his Resort 2013 collection. After he won the 2011 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund and recently took home the Swarovski Award for Womenswear the pressure had only intensified, as we waited to see what Altuzarra would pull out of the bag next. Fortunately, the American-based designer didn’t fail to impress with Resort 2013.
